James E. Faulconer will present the Laura F. Willes Center for Book of Mormon Studies Lecture for 2012–13, “Sealings and Mercies: Moroni’s Final Exhortation in Moroni 10,” Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013 at Brigham Young University.
The lecture will begin at 7 p.m. in the Gordon B. Hinckley Alumni and Visitors Center. It is sponsored by the Willes Center at the Neal A. Maxwell Institute for Religious Scholarship and is free and open to the public.
Faulconer has taught in the BYU Philosophy Department since 1975 and holds the Richard L. Evans Chair of Religious Understanding at BYU. He has edited several books and published many articles and book chapters on philosophy. He also publishes regularly in journals on topics concerning scripture study and the philosophy of religion in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Established in 2007, the Laura F. Willes Center for Book of Mormon Studies promotes a concentrated study of the Book of Mormon both as an ancient text and as an important publication in the modern world. The center held its first Book of Mormon lecture in 2009. The Willes Center advances efforts to understand the historical and spiritual value of this significant ancient source.
